The continued growth of our gym’s community is in the hands of the developing athletes and coaches that comprise our membership. Our training curriculums and pipelines are world-class and produce successful athletes and competitors as well as successful individuals pursuing physical, mental, and emotional growth.
To continue to grow and have more services available to our membership and community we need to establish and implement a comparable coaching and leadership program that builds world-class coaches who are leaders in their field. Our Instructor/Leadership Training (ILT) and coaching internships will provide participants with the skills to be great coaches who are technically proficient, supportive of all personality types, and capable of running safe, effective training.
If your goals include becoming a coach for any of the programs offered at VG/CFM then participation in the ILT will be a useful, meaningful, and required step of your development.
The ILT is a 20 unit program, with each unit consisting of:
A required reading assignment
One hour of classroom discussion
One hour of practical instruction/participation
The Coaching Internship is done as an assistant instructor to be shadowed and evaluated by a full instructor for different periods of time depending on the program and the individual.
Our next Martial Arts ILT session will start on Thursday, May 23rd. The class will meet on Thursdays from 7pm until 10pm. If you are being considered for this then Coach has probably already contacted you. If he has not already talked to you and you are interested in participating then please talk with Coach.

Are you looking for something for your children to do this summer that will build character and confidence? How about increasing their physical fitness and self-discipline in a mutually supportive yet challenging environment?
Vanguard Gym has the area’s most complete program for personal development within our amazing kids program. All of the benefits of our year around program will now be available in a kid’s summer camp.
Kids will spend their day in activities designed to assist them to:
Learn the value of teamwork,
Learn what it means to set and achieve goals,
Develop a healthy, drug-free lifestyle, which includes fitness and healthy eating,
Develop respectful and effective communication,
Build confidence in themselves and their life skills,
Learn proven strategies for dealing with bullies and situations where bullying is taking place,
Develop focus,
Understand what self-defense is and when it is acceptable to defend yourself,
And Have Fun!
Camp will run from June 24th until August 30th.
We will be closed July 4th.
Full-Day (7:30 am – 4:30pm) and Half-Day (7:30-12:00, 12:30 – 4:30) packages are available on a weekly basis. You must register ahead of time.
