Positive Social Interaction
Mixed Martial Arts and CrossFit are self-paced activity in a highly social environment. Camaraderie and friendships grow with people who train together. Communication skills are developed and improved as they are most important in helping others reach their potentials. Watching the fights together on “fight night” and going out to the amateur local fights together to support your teammates that are fighting that night are a high point for many who train in mixed martial arts. Traveling together for tournaments and CrossFit events builds positive experiences and lasting friendships.
After an initial trial period at another local gym, I wanted to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at a facility that was in close proximity to my home in Manassas. My decision to join Vanguard Gym was two-fold in nature: personal interest and family bonding opportunity by getting my son involved in, and excited about, sports and minimize the lure of video games and TV.
I am able to control the pace at which I learn, train and compete which adapts to my hectic professional life, and I love the camaraderie that Vanguard Gym provides as 95% of my friends are ones I have made here.
At recent tournaments I have been able to successfully apply the skills learned during training. During one in particular I was able to witness the growth of my son in the sport. He was by my side through every facet of the experience. He coached me by providing solid direction as the matches progressed and taking video for later review at the same time.
